Weapons • Muskets- an old gun used in the American revolution that required the soldiers to load by hand • Bayonets- a knife that attached to the end of a musket. • Small pistol- was also an old gun just like the musket but they could hold it in one hand
musket • It was a muzzle loading gun which means it required men to reload after each shot they took. • Loading a musket-men would use a powder horn (a powder horn was a animal horn that was hollowed out and filled with gunpowder, men used this during the war to hold their gunpowder) and empty some gunpowder into their gun for the next shot. Next they would ram the powder and shot down the barrel of the gun with a ramrod.
Muskets Very heavy Took a long time to load Not accurate at all Rifles Lighter Easier to load and was much faster Much more accurate
Bayonet • A bayonet was a small sword or knife that hooked onto the end of a musket so when the soldiers were at close range combat, they didn’t have to waist their shots. • A bayonet was very common in the American revolution.
Pistols/ small weapons • These were like muskets only men could hold them in one hand. • They were easier to shoot • They were faster then reloading a musket.
