  4. Probability Experiment: an action, or trial, through which specific results (counts, measurements, responses) are obtained. Outcome: result of a single trial in a probability experiment. Samle Space: set of all possible outcomes of a probability experiment. Event: subset of the sample space (consisting of 1 or more outcomes). What is the probability of getting your college identification number when randomly generating the other seven digits? You try….. Answers: 108 = 100,000,000 possible ID #s. SO… 1/100,000,000 is the probability of generating 8 digits and getting your specific ID #. 1/10,000,000

  10. There are THREE types of probability. • Classical (or theoretical) probability • Empirical (or statistical) probability • Subjective probability • Result from intuition, educated guesses and estimates Types of Probability
