  2. Facts UMCU Operation Room • Academic hospital; • 24,000 operations per year; • 3 OR facilities with 30 ORs; • Utilization of over 6,000 different articles over more than 150 suppliers; • GHX as solution for external data pool; • Over 20,000 manually replenished orders.

  3. Objectives scanning project with GHX • Automated recall procedure • Information about utilization of material • Auto replenishment

  4. Need for GS1 standards • Barcode scanning by Surgical Assistants • Standardization among the medical devices suppliers • Traceability standards within the supply chain

  5. Future Supply chain management is at the beginning in the health care organizations/hospitals in the Netherlands. With GS1 we can start making improvements.
