  2. Pre College Activities • Member of IEEE-USA Pre College Committee • Meet 2-times per year • Coordinate / support / evolve K-12 activity • Maintain liaison with IEEE EAB • Member of EAB’s PECC • Liaison with Section Education Activity Chairs

  3. Pre College Components • K-12 Teachers • Teaching units • In service education (CEUs) • K-12 Students • workshops, contest, mentoring, JETS program • R1 Section Leaders • Section Education Activity Chair • IEEE Section members • Retired IEEE members, leaders, K-12 teachers

  4. I believe… that each Region 1 Section • has members (leaders) who would like to champion a K-12 program… • can identify these champions using the IEEE’s eNotice mechanism… • Each Section just needs to throw that idea out there • And, have a contact point in the Section to get this started

  5. I believe that Region 1 can… • support each Section in its quest to identify a champion for a K-12 activity • create a buffet of program options that will facilitate each Section being able to identify one K-12 activity that will be highly successful

  6. I believe that… • IEEE Region 1 has a large number of islands of excellence… and we need to provide a ferry service

  7. Pre College Goals: General • Catalog existing R1 activity • Identify Pre College people in each Section • Education Activity Chair in each Section • IEEE mailing list for R1 Pre College activists • Highlight promising practices, suggestions, collaboration • Work w / Section leader to establish 1 Pre College activity (e.g., science fair, writing contest, TISP) • Boilerplate award proposal for Pre College leader in each Section

  8. Pre College Goal: IEEE EAB • Identify R1 Sections to conduct TISP workshop • Maintain liaison with EAB

  9. Pre-College Goals: Collaborations Develop a buffet of options • JETS • ASEE’s Pre College Engineering Division
