What is the CNA? • The annual Capital Needs Assessment is an important planning tool for both IDOT and IPTA, with the collected data used to conduct budget analysis. The survey results help determine vehicle, equipment and facility needs for all downstate transit operators. • Continuity of content is VERY important to the success of the Capital Needs Assessment. Please assure that the survey is completed by someone with a firm grasp of your present situation as well as an understanding of where your agency is headed in future years.
Investment Status • A potential investment is one which is needed but for which formal planning has not yet begun. • A planned investment is one currently in the planning phase. • A programmed investment is fully funded.
Commonly Seen Problems • Please complete ALL sections where needed • Ridership vs. Total Trips, Date (Agency) • Date Built, Fleet (Vehicles in Service) • Delivery Date & Purchase Cost (Veh. on Order) • Date & Estimated Costs (Facility Page) • Construction & Opening Date (10-yr. facility) • Purchase Date (Other 10-yr. needs)
Upcoming Changes • Changes to vehicle classifications and their descriptions • Adding 3 new categories • Rail/Light Rail • Bus Rapid Transit • River Taxi/Ferry Boats • Update any stats., etc. used in the formulas • Make sure it’s compatible to Office 2007 • Make information more report friendly (charts, etc.)
