  1. OESC Workforce Services Division Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)

  2. TAA Mission • This program provides assistance to workers whose employment is adversely affected by increased imports or by their jobs going overseas. • Specifically, those workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports.

  3. TAA Benefits • Job Search • Job Relocation • Training • ATAA - Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance

  4. Job Search Requirements • Job interviews must be at least 50 miles one way. • Must file search application within 1 year after certification or job separation, whichever is later, or within 6 months after training if approved.

  5. Job Relocation Requirements • New employment must be over 50 miles from your current home. • Contract Mover is arranged by the State TAA Coordinator.

  6. Job Relocation Allowances • Includes one-way mileage on up to two vehicles. • 18,000 lb. limit per household. • May apply & receive lump sum payment equal to 3 times former weekly average wage (max. $1,250.00).

  7. Training • Training is an option if suitable employment can’t be obtained (employment with wages at least 80% of former employment). • Training may include: College, vocational or technical training, on-the-job training, and remedial training. • Up to 2 years training paid for on tuition & books. • Must apply first with Local Office TAA Consultantbefore enrolling in training

  8. Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance: ATAA • Applicant must be 50 years or older. • Maximum of $10, 000.00 paid during a 2 year period.

  9. Trade Readjustment Allowance: TRA • This program provides a federal weekly allowance to trade impacted workers who apply for TRA and are determined eligible.

  10. Trade Readjustment Allowance: TRA Conditions • Applicant must have been eligible for U.I. benefits and exhausted all rights to regular U.I. benefits

  11. Health Coverage Tax Credit: HCTC • HCTC is a federal tax credit that pays 65% of the qualified health plan premiums paid by eligible individuals.
