International Primary Curriculum (IPC) The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is an internationally-minded, thematic, cross-curricular and rigorous teaching structure. • Around 2000 schools • In nearly 93 countries • For Yr 1 – Yr 6 children in • the 21st Century • It nurtures a love of learning and encourages the necessary key skills and personal qualities to promote LIFE LONG LEARNERS

Pastoral Care at BIS Supports the wider aspects of school life Promoting well-being Developing student voice Fostering independence Developing understanding and tolerance
Pastoral Care at BIS House System - Krakatoa, Merapi, Agung and Bromo. Each house has Captains and Vice-Captains - decided though House Elections in each year group During the year children are given the opportunity to earn points for their house teams
Pastoral Care at BIS Student Council Elected by peers Projects in the last academic year included promoting healthy eating, playground issues, CAS Projects and eco issues
Literacy at BIS • Literacy is the core thread to the entire curriculum – every teacher is a literacy teacher • Three • interdependent • strands: Literacy
Literacy at BIS • Specific skills taught at age appropriate levels: • phonics/spelling • grammar • handwriting • reading • comprehension • writing composition (different genres)

Formative Assessment • On-going formative assessment by teachers – marking work, talking to pupils, presentations… • Indicates learning that has taken place and the next steps • Builds a picture of a child’s learning journey
Summative Assessment • Use of summative assessment such as standardized tests • Sets benchmarks, highlights potential achievement, a snap shot of achievement at a particular moment in time
Home Learning • Home learning can introduce, reinforce, review and consolidate topics/tasks • Develops and extends the links between home and school • Too much, too little, too easy, too hard, I have to help, just right…
