Make our Voices be Heard Unit Portfolio Presentation Abanes, Karen Rose Ermac, Nhovy D.
UNIT PLAN SUMMARY Election is coming! Let your voices be heard! Let us find out who will be heard and who can initiate a change. This unit is all about initiating an action through writing. The class will communicate to any aspiring president through letters. The task can be done by interviewing people who come from the different sectors of the society. They will work in groups. For instance, a group will interview people from the business sector or from the labor sector.
The interview should be able to answer the questions “What do you expect from the president? and “What can you suggest to the president?” All groups must document their interviews through videos or pictures. After the interviews, they must create multi-media presentations involving what they have discovered in the process. They must share their presentations to the class during the first week of the entire activity.
Finally, each group will write a letter to an aspiring leader of their own choice. Their letters should include questions, expectations, ideas, opinions and aspirations of the people they have interviewed as well as their personal views and aspirations. In their letters, they have to observe proper usage of subject-verb agreement and use courteous expressions. They have to ensure that they will send their letters before the election.
