The MTL design Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Developing Broadening and embedding Deepening Core provision, based on an initial diagnosis, focuses on developing skills of enquiry and use of evidence, and on an induction to professional practice in the school context Specialist programme provides learning opportunities to deepen professional knowledge and understanding, strengthen skills in specialist areas, and provide a pathway through to the next stage of professional development Core provision for all participants, covers four areas of content, to broaden and embed the participant’s professional knowledge, skills and understanding within their own context 40 credits 80 credits 60 credits

A three phase programme: Phase 2 Content area 1 • teaching and learning, inc. personalised learning • assessment for learning Content area 2 • subject knowledge for teaching • curriculum and curriculum development Content area 3 • how children and young people develop, • inc. behaviour management and inclusion Content area 4 • leadership and management • working with others, in and beyond the classroom Phase 2 Phase 2 Broadening and embedding Core provision for all participants, covers four areas of content, to broaden and embed the participant’s professional knowledge, skills and understanding within their own context A total of 80 credits will be awarded

  7. What is the MTL? • It is a M-level qualification for teachers • It is fully funded and mainly classroom based • In three phases over three years (not necessarily one year per phase)

  8. What is the MTL? • The only masters programme that combines all of these elements • focus on children and young people • based in school • a trained school based coach • personalised flexible programme • alignment with induction • HEI and school collaboration
