Back pain is pain felt in the back. Episodes of back pain may be acute, sub-acute, or chronic depending on the duration. The pain may be characterized as a dull ache, shooting or piercing pain, or a burning sensation. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands as well as the legs or feet, and may include paresthesia (tingling with no apparent cause),[1] weakness or numbness in the legs and arms. The anatomic classification of back pain follows the segments of the spine: neck pain (cervical), middle back pain (thoracic), lower back pain (lumbar) or coccydynia (tailbone or sacral pain) with the lumbar vertebrae area most common for pain.

What is whiplash? • First coined in conjunction with the widespread advent of motor vehicles in 1928, whiplash (so named in deference to the cracking of a whip) is an injury that results from the sudden and forceful back-and-forth movement of the neck. Though any traumatic injury may pose a risk of whiplash, the condition is most common in victims of car accidents – so widespread, in fact, that the treatment of whiplash supports a booming $30 billion a year industry in the United States. • Symptoms of whiplash may include: • Neck Pain and Stiffness • Worsening of pain with neck movement • loss of range of motion in the neck • Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull • Tenderness or pain in shoulder, upper back or arms • Tingling or numbness in the arm • Fatigue Dizziness
