  1. Candy Box ResearchClick the mouse when you see the redclick. You need: A pencil ½ grid paper click

  2. Jack and Jill are packing candy boxes for a summer job. They need your help figuring out what size boxes they need for each amount of candy. Click Pick a number from the can. Click 7 How many candies? Click

  3. Pack the boxes. Click Jack decided to pack the box with seven candies in this way. Click • There is 1 row and 7 columns. • This is a 1 x 7 box.Click

  4. Copy the 1 x 7 box onto your squared paper and label the dimensions of the box. Click Your paper should look something like this. Remember: Rows go across and columns go up and down. Click

  5. Pick a number from the can. Click On to the next box…Click Think about the ways Jack and Jill can pack 9 candies into a box.Click 9 How many candies?

  6. Pack the boxes. Click Jack and Jill could not decide the best way to pack the box of 9 candies. Here’s the way Jack wanted to pack the box. Click • There is 1 row and 9 columns. • This is a 1 x 9 box.Click

  8. It’syour turn… Click • Find another way to pack the candy box of 9 candies. • Use your grid paper and show the new box. • Remember it has to be a square or rectangle. • Be sure to label the dimensions of your box. • Click Click when you have finished the box.

  10. Now, you have a chance to do some packing on your own! Click • Pick some numbers from the can. • Write all 6 numbers on your notepad. Click • When you have all 6 numbers recorded... Click • For each number, use your grid paper to make as many boxes as you can to hold that number of candies. • Remember to write the dimensions on your boxes.Click 36 15 18 16 20 21 How many candies?
