  1. ABCs Of a Good Expository Thesis Expository: This is the simplest of all types of thesis. It puts forth some facts and simple explanations regarding a specific idea.

  2. Definition • Expository writing is a type of writing, the purpose of which is to inform, explain, describe, or define the author's subject to the reader.

  3. LT: I can write a clear expository thesis statement. The ABC’s of a good thesis It must be an Assertion. The writer must Be an insider. It must be clearly written.

  4. Dos of a good thesis sentence. Express the point of the paper. EX: Words mean something. They have the power to arouse sympathy in us and add equal power to send us into fury. Write a statement—a declarative sentence. EX: It seems to me that there is a whole lot in life that is unknowable. Be specific EX: EYE: eye. How may words draw for us what they are? Be concise EX: Run. Skate. Fly. The action words! Use strong verbs if possible. EX: Exposure to chemicals harms children.

  5. DON’TS of a thesis DON’T write a thesis statement as a question.EX: What is your favorite word? DON’T describe the strategy of the paper. EX: I am going to tell you about my favorite word.
