  7. Battles in the South c. Francis Marion “Swamp Fox” helped Gates by destroying English boats (they had been providing communication between England and Charlestown. Swamp Fox also helped by surprising the British as they were moving American POWs. He was able to get the Americans free!

  8. Battles in the South D. Brits and America battled outside Camden Gates and his men fled ANOTHER American loss!

  11. II. War Ends G. Washington outsmarted Cornwallis 1. French Navy blockaded the bay to prevent supplies & troops from coming in 2. Washington and the French army came from the North to the Peninsula 3. Battle of Yorktown occurs and the British surrender!
