The Experience Section of a Resume • List dates of employment in reverse chronological order. • Provide name(s) of companies/agencies where employed. • Provide job titles and short descriptions of work performed. • Place this section before Education if you have experience relevant to your career choice. • Experience: • May 2007-Aug 2007; Smith’s Biological Systems; field assistant (full-time)—assisted technical personnel with surveys of flora and fauna. • Aug 2006-May 2007; Tennessee Tech Univ. The Education Section of a Resume • Specify dates of matriculation. • List institutions of higher learning by name in reverse chronological order. • Do not list high school(s). • Include expected graduation date for B.A./B.S., if not in hand. • Include your major and your QPA if 3.0 or higher; if your QPA is below 3.0, list your QPA in your major if it is 3.0 or higher. • List computer skills; language competencies; certificates.
