Time-tabling Arrangement Criteria
Procedure • Preparation: • Obtain the list of teaching duty from the Principal • Confirm the general requirements: e.g.split classes of each form, pair teaching…. • Distribute the request form to the Subject Panel Head: special requirements for the allocation of lessons/special room…. for different forms • Other considerations
Procedure • Allocation of lessons: Class Timetable and Teacher Timetable • Start from the most complicated forms/classes/teaching arrangement that involves more variables • e.g. (1) - Form 1 English 5 teachers + 5 classes + arrangement of lessons (3 double and 2 single – 5 days in a 6 day cycle) + 1 extra classroom
Procedure • e.g. (2) - Form 6Sc AL Physics/6A&6Sc PA/6A Econ 3 teachers and 1 Lab Technician + 2 classes + 3 subjects + arrangement of lessons (4 double and 1 single/2 double in the Phy Lab(TAS)/1 double in the afternoon/Lab preparation time – 5 days in a 6 day cycle) + Phy Lab. and own classrooms + 1 extra classroom (PA) • e.g. (3) - Form 3A Chin Hist 1 teacher + 1 class + arrangement of lessons (2 single – 2 days in a 6 day cycle)
Procedure Allocation of Class Timetable: • F.1 Chin/Eng/Math/PE • F.3 PL • F.2 PSHE • F.6&7 Split lessons + special room • F.4&5 Split lessons + special room • F.6&7 other lessons • F.4&5 other lessons • F.1-3 other lessons
Procedure Allocation of Teacher Timetable: • Teachers who involve in split classes/pair teaching/special arrangement • Chin/Eng/Math Teachers and F.6/F.7 AL subject teachers
Suggested priorities of special requests • Special rooms/venue/outside resources (swimming pool/trainers) • No. of single/double/triple needed • Lessons to be evenly distributed throughout the cycle • Lessons to be evenly distributed throughout (e.g. X Music+PE+HE/NW in 1 single day)
Suggested priorities of YOUR special requests • Lessons to be arranged/not to be arranged in a specific time slot • Common periods for a particular subject/level • Other Considerations: • 30-minutes-period • Teachers (No. of lessons in a single day/lessons to be evenly distributed throughout the cycle….)
