Goals for Improving Basic Education • Improve the participation rates by bringing in children who are not in schools • Improve the retention rates of learners who are already in schools • Raise school performance and improve academic achievement
Expand opportunities for preschool education Increasing the number of DepED preschool classes Increasing resources for Service Contracting Scheme Providing financial assistance to PTCA-organized preschools Tightening standards for private preschools Continue the implementation of existing and new programs that will improve the participation rate of 6- year old children Strategic Directions (1) The successful implementation of E.O. 685 will contribute to achieving the 90% PR for elementary education by 2010
