In June 2003 the Illinois State Board of Education and NCATE moved to a portfolio based assessment model for pre-service teachers. • Additionally, more and more districts in Illinois are moving towards portfolios for non-tenured teachers • That means. . . • The completion of a professional portfolio is required! • Students who do not complete a portfolio will NOT be recommended for certification.
