GIS Baseline Surveyfor Localities – Results Stefanie McGuffin ISP Regional Coordinator April 17, 2012 www.vita.virginia.gov 15
Local Government GIS…what’s what? • Until this effort, there was no state-wide collection of information regarding GIS capabilities and services at localities. Software / Platform ? Planning ? Data distribution ? GIS Staff ? Emergency Services support? Basedata ? Maintenance schedules ? Professional training ?
We Found Out! • VGIN developed and distributed a survey and results are posted!
Yes = 29.4% Yes but not enough = 33.6% No = 37%
Next Steps • Engage stakeholders to review results • Promote survey results • Discuss at GIS Users Group meetings • Use as education tool • Encourage feedback • Findings/What was learned • Determine action items • What assistance can VGIN offer
