Charles Darwin’s life • Born in 1809 in England • Studied Medicine in Scotland • His friend and teacher Professor John Stevens Henslow invited Darwin on an adventurous trip on the ship called “HMS Beagle” • Beginning in 1831, his voyage lasted 5 years • Darwin had 10 children • He died at the age of 73

  4. Darwin’s work • During his voyage, Darwin collected and studied many plants, insects, birds and animals • Every day he kept a diary • He made lots of drawings • Along the way, Darwin also met many native people of South America.

  8. And then he wrote books.. • The Origins of the Species • The Voyage of the Beagle • And many others!

  9. His most famous work was.. • About the origins of the species • Darwin wrote that all species evolve and change over time • And only the fittest species survive • Even the Earth itself has changed over millions of years

  10. Some people did not believe Charles Darwin • But many scientists agreed that he made an important discovery • Even today, his works are considered the basis for modern science
