  2. *Do not share your email account or password, ever. *Log on when appropriate, not during class time, unless instructed by the teacher. General Guidelines

  3. *Be polite. *Keep messages simple and direct. *Font: dark colored, easy to read.*Always include a subject in the subject bar.

  4. *Subjects should be short and direct. *Use full words (thanks in advance), not acronyms (TIA).

  5. *If using a signature, keep it simple and clear for school use. For example: Joe SmithRed TeamDeep Springs Elementaryjsmithfms@stu.fayette.kschools.us

  6. Appropriate Uses of Email • Emailing a school conference/teacher to pass in an assignment. • Asking a student or teacher a question about school related topics. • Answering questions related to school work. • Getting assignments or handouts from email conferences, teachers, or peers.

  7. *Communicating with other schools for collaborative projects with teacher approval. *Communicating with experts for school related work with teacher approval

  8. *Emailing school work to and from home. *Sending another student a piece of work to edit. *Using email to share work for a group project.

  9. Beware! • Consider everything you send by email to be public. Emails can be traced, forwarded to people you didn’t intend to send them to, copied, printed, and shared. • Never say anything on email that you wouldn’t say in public.

  10. Inappropriate Uses of Email *Using email during class (unless a teacher has given permission). *Emailing people you do not know. * Logging on to someone else’s email using their login name and/or password. *Using chat features without teacher permission

  19. Consequences for Inappropriate Email Your email is shut down for 6 weeks. You could lose all email for the year. You are reported to your teacher and principal. You may be reported to your parents, who will see a copy of the email you wrote.

  20. Stop and Think! When you write an email, ask yourself: Can I send this to my parents, teacher, principal, or preacher? If the answer is NO, do not send that email!
