SIG Program Goals • Accelerate school turnaround • Promote a sense of urgency • Develop/Support internal accountability • Establish a clear focus on results • Buildleadershipcapacity Planning -- Implementing -- Sustaining Year 1 Year 2, 3, 4 Year 5 (Optional)
Planning Focus • Focus on a few initiatives • What are the critical needs of your school? • Involve critical stakeholders • Who must be involved to develop a well-rounded plan? • Strategic Hiring/Placement • Are the right people in the right roles? • Creating a system of support within the district • How will the district provide differentiated support to SIG schools?
Implementation Goals • Establish sustainable systems • How will initiatives build school/teacher capacity? • How will building and district leaders support effective implementation? • Strategic Hiring/Placement/Retention • Are the right people in the right roles? • How do you retain and recruit high-quality staff? • Track Initiatives with Data • How will you monitor the progress and effectiveness of your initiatives?
Sustainability Goals • Identify critical pieces of school improvement plan • How will you sustain people, processes, and procedures? • Consider sustainability from the beginning • What will need to continue to be funded, and what sources exist? • What initiatives will be self-sustaining? • How will funding change over the 5-year grant?
