Introduction • 3 year support project • Started on 1 Oct. 2004 • Partners: • ULB (BE) (VUB) • Telscom (CH) • NEC (UK) • INNO (FR) (MBDS, Database Forum) • BUTE (HU)
Eurolabs Mission • Integrate new networking technologies, applications and services into five interconnected test beds in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. • Whilst each centre will specialize in certain technologies, the features will be transferable to all sites.
Eurolabs Objectives • Set up and maintain five well-equipped, interconnected testbeds, offering state-of-the-art networking technologies as well as advanced applications and services. • Implement and test innovative products, andconduct interoperability testing. • Undertake the organization of dissemination events. • Participate actively in the EU and international concertation processes.
Objectives in practice • Provision of distributed test bed • Integration of network technologies, applications and services • Topics addressed are: access networks, IPv6, QoS, security, mobility, interworking & interoperability • Support IST and National research projects for testing their systems • Applications and test equipment provision • Link to GEANT to test across the five test beds • Organize dissemination activities and events • Liaison with other IST projects to promote NGN: participation in clusters and concertation process
Workpackages and Key Issues • WP0 – Project Management • WP1 – Infrastructure and Tools • Provision of testbed with HW and SW functionality to test networking and application features • WP2 – Trials and experiments • Facilitate interworking and interoperability tests • Plugtests • WP3 – Dissemination and exploitation • Organisation of events, marketing of testbed within IST and participate in the concertation process
Applications Applications WP2 WP2 Middleware Middleware Tools ( Tools ( eg eg . SIP) and also for . SIP) and also for mobility, security, mobility, security, QoS QoS , … , … WP1 WP1 Physical Infrastructure Physical Infrastructure Open Collaborative Structure Activities involved are: Available Applications and Tools Enhancements by Eurolabs Physical Infrastructure Eurodemo Lab in Brussels Multicom Lab in Bern NEC Mobility Lab, Heidelberg Univ. Budapest CIT Lab, Budapest Casa Nova in Sophia Antipolis EUROLABS is a support project and expects to collaborate with all projects for tests and interoperability. Collaboration with ‘Broadband For All’ and ‘Research Infrastructure’ projects is the prime target
