Salvation by Water • 1Pet.3:20“Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” • The water that brought destruction to the earth also brought Salvation to Noah and his family. • The water cleansed the earth of all the sin & wickedness. • The water saved Noah and his family from the sin in the earth.

The Like Figure • 1Pet.3:21-22“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” • Baptismbrings us salvation. • Baptismcleanses us from all our sins. • Baptismsaves us by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. • Rom.6:4-5 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted togetherin the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”

  4. “Not the putting awayof the filth of the flesh” • 1Pet.3:21“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” • Baptismis not a physical cleansing. • Baptismis a spiritual cleansing. • Acts2:38“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” • Acts22:16“And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

  5. “The Answer of a Good Conscience” • 1Pet.3:21“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” • Is There Special Power in the water of Baptism? • Is it Holy water? • How then does it Cleanse us from our sins? • The Answer of a Good Conscience Toward God! • Baptism is a part of the Gospel. • If we are planted in the likeness of his death, we shall be in the likeness of his resurrection. • Baptism is simply the means of Salvation. • Our Conscience is then pricked, and we respond with Faithtoward God. • The Power of Baptism lies in our Faith.

Baptism: An Expression of Faith • Mark16:16“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” • Col.2:11-13“In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through faithof the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;” • Faith in the operation of God—God operates in the waters of Baptism through our faith to cleanse us from all our sins.

  7. The Conversionof the Eunuch • Acts 8:26-39 • The Eunuch was reading a prophecy about Christ and how he came to bring salvation to the earth. • Philip then preached Christ unto him. • Explained the Gospel—Good News of Jesus Christ • Philip & the Eunuch came to water. • The Eunuch asked what hinders me from being baptized? • If thou believest with all thine heart thou mayest. • The Eunuch then made a confession as a expression of his faith. • Based on that confession of faiththe Eunuch was Baptized. • The Eunuch then went on his way rejoicing.

  8. Have You Been Baptized into Christ? • Gal.3:27 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
