Interesting Facts! • The Saki monkeys belong to the genus Pithecia. • The Saki has a very unusual appearance, its face is framed with an odd 'bonnet' or 'hood' of hair. • The Monk Saki often travels in groups of three or four. • The Saki monkeys are usually always shy. • The Bald-faced Saki (Pithecia irrorata) inhabits Western Brazil, southeast Peru and northern Bolivia. • The Bald-faced Saki (Pithecia irrorata) dwells around western Brazil, southeast Peru and northern Bolivia. • The fur is a dark agouti color with pale hands and feet. • In the late 1900’s is was nearly hunted to extinction. • The females have very long, shaggy, loose hair. The hair on the male is short and stiff. • The usual color of both gender are brownish/grayish. • Their under parts are usually red and tan.
