Physical Description • It has a small nose on its face. • It has whiskers on its nose. • It has different kinds of fins. • It has some fur. • It has a fish like tail.
Habitat • Some monk seals live in Kauai. • Some monk seals also live in cold water. • And maybe northwest atolls. • They can live in salt water. • Also northwestern Hawaiian islands.
Did it harm other species and did it get harmed by other species? • It was Both. • They harm octopuses well eat them. • they also harm spiny lobsters. • One more thing they harm is reef fish. • The monk seal gets harmed by tiger sharks.
How was it important to Hawaiians? • The Hawaiians didn’t use monk seals. • The monk seal wasn’t important to them.
Other cool facts! • The monk seal is endangered . • They can grow up to 7-8 feet • They can weigh up to 400 – 800 pounds. • They can hold there breath for 20 minutes. • Monk seals are excellent swimmers. • The tiger shark is there main predator.
