Emotive Language • Newspapers want to sell as many copies of their papers as possible. They try to lure their readers into their pages with juicy gossip, prizes or powerful and emotive stories. • EMOTIVE LANGUAGE is language aimed at appealing directly to your emotions.
Your turn! • Think of and write down an emotive word for the following examples: • Taking someone’s life • Needing food • Feeling very unhappy • Feeling very cross about something • A group of bored teenagers vandalising
Your Task: • To write a newspaper article about a storm in Portishead that has damaged property and caused injuries/ a death. • You need to come up with the details and language to make this an emotive story
