  2. In this PechaKucha, I want to present the way I think and see differently as a result of the experiences I’ve had in this class. • I now see/think differently in the following way(s): • I now see that there is a multitude of ways to define design outside of a pattern. • I can now understand the importance of design in scociety

  3. Learning moments • When we had to learn about the different majors the first things that popped into my brain were things I was going to exclude, i.e. sculpture, 3D design, etc. but what I ended up learning about those majors made me take another look at them. I had ventured into the senior studios and got to look at some of the installations they were constructing and I found some of them very intriguing.

  4. When we visited the kohler art center I had the joy of looking at the interior designs of all the different bathrooms and tubs they had on display, as well as the molds in the foundry. While it was amusing seeing all the different styles of toilets, I think I enjoyed the bathrooms at the art center more then those. To think that someone could take something like a toilet bowl and transform it into a piece of art that interacts with someone unhinged my perception of design.

  6. Question 1 • Is there a clear difference between art and design? • There is a difference from say a painting to a print, but the line between art and design remains blurred and smudged to me. To others it may be clearer and more in focus

  7. Question 2 • What makes design design? • How does one determine whether something is a design or another piece of artwork? Is there some specific qualifications that make a requirement list that determines what design is and isn’t?

  8. other • PERSONALITY!

  9. Is it design? Is it art?

  10. Or are they one and the same?

  11. Bonus question • How pointless is a class where everything is online?: • The answer? VERY. If our assignments are online and we’re expected to post things in an online blog, then what’s the purpose of even having the class meet to begin with? Well I can tell you now there is no point what so ever within possible reason that this would make sense to anyone.

  12. conclusion • I cant honestly say that I’ve learned much from this class. If I did learn anything it’s simply that one cant be close minded between art and design. This class hasn’t sparked that much interest from me so far, and it would be more engaging had everything not been based solely online. Though it isn’t fair to say I haven’t learned anything either, I have found a new respect for people that

  13. Work in sculpture and interior design and architecture thanks to the trip to the kohler centers. • I see the learning, thinking, and experiences from this class applying to my work and my life in the following (3) ways: • Helping with a design for a print • Identifying design and art in everyday life • Helping the flow of ideas to make my designs eye pleasing
