Molecular – 2 non-metals Use Prefixes Don’t change 1st element ending Second element changes to –ide Ionic – metal and non-metal • NEVER use Prefix From formula to name • Name metal normally • Change ending of anion to –ide • -ate or –ite ending must check polyatomic list
