The December blizzard lasted about two days,and had spread all along the East Coast,hitting the Northeast especially hard.New York City seemed to get hit the hardest from the worst storm in four years,even though a December blizzard there is uncommon.The storm forced three major airports to shut down,stopped trains and closed a few subway lines.Officials said it would take days to dig out of the deep snow.Many residents could not get to their jobs,and it took a long time for emergency services to arrive.But despite all of the snow,the cleanup was slower than expected.There are many possible reasons for the shortcomings,but no matter the reason,the storm hit hard. The snow had been a growing problem.Since more storms would swoop in after one snowstorm,the snow would just accumulate.
