  2. Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor 12:1-11 KJV) Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

  3. Fruit Of The Spirit (Gal 5:22-23 KJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. The Blessed Attitudes (Mat 5:2-11 KJV) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

The DNA of Spiritual Gifts A Basic Overview A Spiritual Gift is a special, divine empowerment bestowed on a believer, by the Holy Spirit, to accomplish a spiritual purpose. • The Greek word most frequently used for spiritual gifts is charismata, a word that points to the grace (charis) of God. Paul makes mention of this grace in the context of spiritual gifting; “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” Ephesians 4:7 • Another Greek word often used is pneumatikos which means spiritualities or spiritual things. A more workable word may be manifestations. Thus, a spiritual gift is a special manifestation of the Spirit visiting a believer to assist in accomplishing God’s will. • 1 Corinthians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. • The most obvious purpose concerning the operation of spiritual gifts is to profit or bring the benefits of the kingdom of God to a person in need. • 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual [gifts], seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. • Our passion must become a persona easily used by the Holy Spirit to help those who are reaching out for God.

  8. The DNA of Spiritual Gifts A Basic Overview Nine Principles Relating To The Spiritual Gifts • 1. Every Born Again Believer Has One Or More Spiritual Gifts. • But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1 Cor. 12:7 • 2. Many believers have received more than one spiritual gift. • Each Christian has received a combination of spiritual abilities that is suited to his or her God-given ministry. This creates diversity within the body of Christ. • 3. Spiritual gifts may be given at the moment of new birth, yet they may lie undiscovered and dormant for a long period of time. • Christians often discover their combination of gifts through a gradual process and spontaneous discovery. • 4. Spiritual gifts can be abused and neglected. It would appear that they cannot be lost and will not be taken away. • The Corinthian church illustrates this fact, believers can be highly gifted, and yet spiritually immature, even carnal. • For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance. Romans 11:29 • 5. Spiritual gifts are not the same as the gift (baptism) of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is intended for all believers. • John 3:5, John 14:16 and Acts 2:38 indicate that the gift of the Holy Spirit is for everyone • The gifts of the spirit, however, are given to individuals as the Spirit chooses – 1 Corinthians 12:11

Spiritual gifts are not the same as the fruit of the Spirit. • Spiritual fruit is produced internally; spiritual gifts are provided externally. Fruit relates to character; gifts relate to spiritual empowerment. • The fruit of the Spirit, especially love, should be the context for the operation of the gifts of the Spirit. Paul’s writing in • 1 Corinthians 13 famously articulated the eternal truth. The Gift without fruit is empty, vain and ineffective. • 7. Spiritual gifts are not the same as natural talents. • Unlike the natural abilities which everyone has from birth, spiritual gifts operate only in Spirit filled believers, • however, both are given by God. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights … • 8. Spiritual gifts are God’s equipment for effective service and edification of the body. • Gifts were given so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 4:10-11 As every man hath received the gift, [even so] minister the same one to another… that God in all things may be glorified … • 9. Effective use of spiritual gifts was a key to the rapid multiplication of the early New Testament church. • Acts 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. • Acts2:47… and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved .

The DNA of Spiritual Gifts Every Perfect Gift 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up. 5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

  12. The DNA of Spiritual Gifts Every Perfect Gift Using the acronym G.I.F.T. each of the nine spiritual gifts will be presented. These four points have been specifically chosen. Each of the gifts will be partnered with one of the fruit of the Spirit and one of the Be-Attitudes as part of the proper operation of the gift.
