Learning Objectives: • Children should learn: • To build on their discoveries and extend them into patterns • To increase manipulative skills through printing with a variety of objects • To understand simple printing methods • Learning Outcomes: • Children: • Develop an understanding of pattern making and increase their manipulative skills • Begin to understand that patterns are applied to other materials – in this instance brickwork but also in wallpaper, cloth and plastic.

Section 3: Exploring and developing ideas (3) • Objectives: • Children should learn: • to record from first-hand observation of buildings • Activities: • Ask the children to look for shapes and patterns in the building and think about why they were chosen. Ask them to use a viewfinder to separate features that show shapes, patterns and decoration, eg windows, doors, brick and tile patterns. Ask them to record these features. • Outcomes: • describe and record the visual qualities of shape, pattern and decoration they can see and remember
