Title 1 Overview • Title 1 is a federal aid program that funds school programs that ensure all students meet the challenging state academic standards. • ATS is a targeted assistance school which means the programs are only for a select group of students who are identified as either not meeting or are at risk of not meeting NJSLS in math and language arts. • Title 1 students are the only students who can participate in Title 1 funded programs and activities.
Title 1 OVerview • Title 1 programs provide targeted assistance to students so that they have fair, equal, and significant opportunities to meet the State’s standards in math and language arts. • ATS has capacity in the 8 period schedule to provide elementary students with daily ‘“Tiger Time” for supplemental instruction in math and/or language arts during the school day. • Title 1 staff includes teachers at the elementary level and aides at the middle school level.

3) Elementary Program - Language Arts SOAR (Supportive Opportunities for Academic Resources) • During school: Daily pull-out for small group instruction for 12 weeks using F&P’s Leveled Literacy Intervention materials • After school: Roaring Readers • Development of a Parent Teacher Alliance - possible “make and take” activity nights, informational meetings, Family book clubs
4) Elementary Program - Math SOAR (Supportive Opportunities for Academic Resources) • During school: Daily push-in for small group instruction using McGraw Hill’s Number Worlds • Students will be placed in a level in Number Worlds that is based on their individual learning level • Number Worlds has weekly lessons, checklists, and assessments to measure progress
5) Middle School Programs SOAR (Supportive Opportunities for Academic Resources) • During school: Daily in-class support for one of the two class periods provided by aides • Mrs. Rishel - 6th and 8th Grade Math • Mrs. Katz - 6th and 7th Grade Math • Mr. Kaufmann - 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Language Arts • After school: Homework Clinic
