  1. Good Morning Please grab a drink, take your seat and get your creative juices flowing.

  2. PVIB Grad Lunch • Wednesday January 8th • Bring your lunch and hear from: • Minnie Lai-class of 2010 Harvey Mudd • Jacoby Shelton-Columbia • Payton Knoch-Colorado State • Andrew Ithurburn-CSUC Honors • Plus surprise guests

  3. The IB learner profile • At the heart of the IB is the “learner profile”, a long- term, holistic vision of education that underpins the program and puts you at the center of everything we do. • The ten aspirational qualities of the learner profile inspire and motivate the work of teachers, students and schools, providing a statement of the aims and values of the IB and a definition of what we mean by “international-mindedness”. • The learner profile unites us all with a common focus: on the whole person, as a lifelong learner. • It applies to us all – student, teacher, parent or administrator – for we are all continually learning.

  4. Make a choice, you need to make eight groups of 3 and two groups of 4. • Think about what qualities you bring to the table. (Does at least 1 member have excellent penmanship?) • In your group you will receive one of the characteristics of the IB learner.

  5. You have the next 20 minutes to complete the following. • Create a poster that names and defines your characteristic. (put the definition I give you in your own words) • You must include an image and a quote that demonstrates your characteristic. One group member may have out a phone to look up a great quote and image. • Put all of your group member names on the back.

  6. Presentations • Open-minded • Caring • Risk-takers • Balanced • Reflective • Inquirers • Knowledgeable • Thinkers • Communicators • Principled

  7. Individual Learner profile • Now is your chance to show off your creative skills. • You will create an individual poster with you and your name in the center (remember those pictures you were supposed to bring in today) • Include the 10 characteristics of the learner profile and show (there’s many ways to do this) how they relate to you. • You will have the rest of the class period today and most of the class tomorrow to complete your poster. You will present on Friday as way to introduce yourself to me and the class.
