Learning Objectives When you have completed this session you will be able to: • Explain the role of the leader in setting the tone of the work environment • Identify the necessary factors which motivate others to follow a leader • Explain the importance of effective communication with teams and work units
Exercise 1- The Age of AIDS How many leaders did you observe? What was their style? What were their attributes? What was unique about each? What did they have in common

Exercise 2- Traits of Leaders Identify leaders you know & admire How did they behave?
Exercise 3- Common Leader Characteristics Check the 5 traits which are most important for an outstanding leader. Use the empty boxes if you think of others that are more important. Place a colored dot on the flipchart next to the 5 behaviors you identified. Note the group’s top 5 behaviors.
