Relative & Absolute reference. Task 1. Populate data from cell A1 to A10 numbers from 1 to 10 in ascending order. In cell B1 enter =A1. Now auto fill values B2 to B10 by pointing your cursor to the bottom right corner of cell B1 and drag all the way to B10.

Task 1 • Populate data from cell A1 to A10 numbers from 1 to 10 in ascending order. • In cell B1 enter =A1. • Now auto fill values B2 to B10 by pointing your cursor to the bottom right corner of cell B1 and drag all the way to B10. • By doing this numbers will appear as in A1 to A10
This is know as Relative reference , where it copies the exact value relative to that particular cell.
Absolute reference • Download the absolute reference.xlsx from my website. • Before we get into it lets see some of our basic skills. • The data that is displayed should be formatted so that it is readable • Check the next slide.
Basic formatting As an example above try applying some of the formatting techniques so that it looks like the above picture
