  2. Windows OS Windows is an Operating system which gives Us the facility of O. L. E. (Object linking and embedding) with G. U. I. (Graphic user interface) facility. Window is mediator of the computer system where we can change the setting of windows makes our computer more entertaining by introducing new features such as enhanced television video play back and support for new hardware.   4. Desktop • It contains the different components as My Computer, Recycle Bin, My Briefcase, Network Neighborhood, etc. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  5. My Computer • This is one of the Desktop components that represents the computer itself. • It holds the identification of the computer as well. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  6. Recycle Bin • It is also one of the desktop components • It holds the removed or deleted files or folders which are assumed to be the wastes. • It is named as Recycle Bin because the items from this bin can again be recovered. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  7. My Briefcase • It is also one of the desktop components. • It holds the data that get updated automatically if any changes are made in the source file, i.e. the files in my Briefcase are always up-to-date. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  8. My Network Places • It is also one of the Desktop components • It holds the information about the networking such as the name of the computers that are in the Network, etc. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  9. Start Menu • The Start Menu contains different components that are necessary for working with the Windows Environment. • At the left corner, it displays the name of the OS being used in the computer. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  10. Shut Down • This is used to Shut Down the Computer or Log off the Current User. • Steps : • Click on the Start Button and choose Shut Down Option Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  11. Run • It is used to run certain program directly by specifying the name of the EXE File. • Steps : • Click on the Start Button and choose the Run Option Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  12. Run (contd..) • In the Run Dialog box, type the name of the EXE file that you want to run and click on the OK Button Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  13. Help • This is used to get certain help about the contents that are related to the OS and as well any other Topics • Steps : • Click on the Start Button and Choose the Help Option Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  14. Help (contd…) • A Dialog box displays that lists you the Topics on which the Help is available. • Select any topics and choose the Display Button. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  15. Search • It is used to Search for the files or folders, People or Computers on the Network or for Printers. • Steps : • Click on the Start Button and choose the Search Option Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  16. Search (contd..) • A Search Window displays where you need to type the name of the File or Folder that you want to search. • Specify the drive in which you want to search and click on the Search Now Button Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  17. Setting • It is used to adjust the setting of the System • Setting through the Control Panel: • Click on the Start Button and choose the Setting Option. • From the sub Menu, choose the Control Panel Option. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  18. Setting (contd..) • From the window of the control Panel, choose the Display Icon to set the Display Properties. • Again a new window appears with different options in respective tabs. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  19. Setting (contd..) • Click the background tab and set the background as per your desire and click on the OK button • Similarly, follow the similar steps for other settings as Screen saver, etc. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  20. Documents • It contains the list of recently used files. • Steps : • Click on the Start button and choose Documents • From the sub menu choose any file that you need Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA

  21. Programs • It contains the list of Program files that are loaded in the System • Steps: • Click on the Start button and choose Program • A list of Program files is displayed. Choose any one that you need. Prepared By BHIM SAPKOTA
