Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) • Established in 1995 • Members are the senior environmental officials in the states • Champion the roles of states in environmental protection • Provide a network to exchange information and experience • www.ecos.org
Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) • A program under ERIS - - the research and educational arm of ECOS • A partnership of state, federal, industry, and stakeholder interests • Creates documents, training, and an expert network for technology innovation and acceptance • www.itrcweb.org
ITRC Profile • In 1995 - - Western Governor’s Assn “Do it” project • Expanded regionally and then nationally through ECOS • Now 43 states • Over 50 consensus documents • 35 Internet training sessions on 17 topics (in 2004) • 10 classroom courses for 563 students (in 2004) • Nearly 20,000 trained since 1999 • 575 members in 2005
