Techniques to remember: • Use general statements as an introduction to the subject. • Use formal language in the present tense. • Don’t use emotional tone – the audience don’t want to hear your opinion here. • Use facts to help support your explanation. • Be clear and detailed – don’t confuse your reader • Create a summative final sentence.

Tips for the Exam • Make sure you know what the task you are being asked to complete involves. • Be clear in your mind what the purpose and audience are. • Underline or highlight key words or phrases. • Plan the ideas you’re going to use. • Make sure you explain your ideas clearly.
