  1. Open House2010-2011 Mrs. Dailey’s 2nd Grade

  2. Our Schedule 8:00-9:30-Centers and Guided Reading Groups 9:30-10 :00-Writing and Read Aloud 10:00-11:00-Snack/Specials 11:00-12:00-Math 12:00-12:45-Lunch/Recess 12:45-1:30-Science (Lifecycles, Matter, Sound, Weather) 1:30-2:10-Social Studies (Citizenship, Economics, Global Awareness)

  3. In 2nd grade… • We share assistants. Mrs. Pearley works with our class and Mrs. Curran’s Cardinals. • We have snack every day at about 10:00. Please send a healthysnack to school on the first day of school and every day thereafter. • We use the SmartBoard, Flip Cameras, and Google Earth to enhance our learning.

  4. Specials • Daily from 10:10-10:55 • Our Class will be divided into 5 teams and join another 2nd grade class for specials each day. • Team 1: Anderson’s Aviators • Team 2: Curran’s Cardinals • Team 3: Howell’s Jalepeńos • Team 4: King’s Koalas • Team 5: Sitton’s Seals

  5. Please write a note or email if… • Your child is to change his/her regular means of transportation. • Your child is absent. You may send a copy to Faye Crabtree who keeps track of attendance for the entire school. • Call the office if you do not receive confirmation from me.

  6. Volunteer and Chaperone • Pleasecomplete the Background Check and submit it to Michael Gilbert, OCS. • Make copies for anyone who might chaperone or volunteer. • While forms are processed you are welcome to participate in a supervised activity in school.

  7. Field Trips NC Zoo, Asheboro Carolina Theatre ,Durham New Hope Elementary, H’boro Total Exposure Designs ,H’boro Museum of Life and Science, Durham

  8. Field Trips • Please label any payments sent to school with your child’s name and purpose of payment (field trip, book order, school pictures, lunch, etc.) • If you would like to contribute to the field trip fund , extra money will be shared with 2nd grade. • Every student needs to review and sign the Code of Bus Conduct. Please take time to do this with your child.

  9. NC Zoological Park • Wednesday, October 27, 2010. • Return to CP at 5pm.

  10. Class T-Shirts $10 Make checks payable to Cameron Park Elementary School. Youth and adult sizes are available.

  11. Medications • If your child needs to take medication at school, please fill out the appropriate forms in the office. • No medications are allowed to be kept by the child or remain in the classroom.

  12. Homework

Homework • Every student needs a folder to carry homework assignments and information to and from school. • You will keep your Math Expressions (MX) homework book at home or in your book bag and tear out the assigned sheet. • Parents and Caregivers: Please check over the homework and discuss errors with your child. • Reading: Please aim for 15-20 minutes a night and record on your reading log.

  14. Scholastic News • $4.50/each student for one-year subscription. • Scholastic New Interactive Demo

  15. Silly bands, trading cards, and other fun stuff • Please leave anything that might distract you from learning at home. • You are permitted to bring collections to school for special events like Trading Card Club.

  16. Arrival and Dismissal • School officially begins at 7:55a.m. Children can come as early as 7:30 a.m. • Dismissal from our class is at 2:19 p.m. If you are waiting for children in the lobby please help by staying clear of main walking paths.

  17. PTGO Parents and Teachers Governance Organization Membership is only $5 a year! My goal is to have 100% participation in my class.

  18. Forms • Please fill out ASAP: • Emergency Information card, • Permission to photograph, and • Internet use agreement • Please let me how your child is getting home. • Take home 4 tennis balls and return them to school cut and ready for your child’s chair 
