  4. Language Art Expectations • Reads Fluently • Reads for Meaning – Comprehension • Uses strategies to decode unknown words • Able to respond appropriately to text (with evidence) • Complete several process writing pieces and district-wide prompts

  5. Math Expectations • Tell time (hour, half hour, quarter hour) • Calculate elapsed time • Solve word problems • Add/Subtract two-digit numbers with and without trading • Identifying and counting coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) • Recognizing place value • Skip counting • Measurement and Geometry

  6. HOMEWORK!!! • Schedule found in Homework Folder • Please be sure to check HW EVERY night for neatness and accuracy • Please remember to record at least 20 minutes of reading each night – this counts as the at-home reading goal on the report card • NO HOMEWORK reward…

  7. 2nd Grade Tidbits • Water bottle (has to be pop-top!!!) • Snack – should be finger-snack • Bathroom etiquette • Gym days – sneakers • Conference times – sign up sheet • Book order – checks only
