The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 • came into force on 1st September, 2005 • AFFECTs virtually everyone • New Emphasis – Positive Action • H&S must be ‘Managed’ and Integrated
The ACT requires: • To ensure safety and health at work • To manage and conduct work activities safely • To prevent improper conduct/behaviour • Prevent risks from : • Noise • Vibration • Radiation • Any other Physical agent • And Chemical & Biological agents • Revise Systems of Work As Necessary
The Law : Biological Agents Regulations of 1994 & 1998. The Requirement is to;- Risk Assess AND Control the Risk so as to:- Protectworkers at work
RISK ASSESSMENT is the KEY • Site specific, • Task specific, • Take account of the worker, • Take account of the location • Must have : • Training, Supervision & Instruction
