  4. The Programme LATINA is a change-oriented digital training programme

  5. Goal • To provide teachers, students and professional people with the technical, social and conceptual tools needed to operate successfully in a web-based world. • The programme staff combine strong links to libraries with a strong commitment to teaching and educational design. 

  6. Development • The Lab develops, demonstrates and provides intensive training in teaching and learning methods that are based on the current state of - and emerging trends in - user-oriented ICT.

  7. Background –LATINA AFRICA 2008 2009 Spring: Maria Musoke visits Oslo and "discovers" LATINA LAB Summer: Agnes Namaganda from Maklib attends LATINA Summer school • Three university people from South Sudan attend LATINA Summer school in Oslo

Background –LATINA AFRICA 2010 2012 LATINA AFRICA conducted in Uganda • June: Prof. Maria Musoke attended the Statistics for Advocacy workshop (directed by Tord) in Greece (Chania, Crete) • Summer: Philliam Adoma, Irene Mbawaki and Monica Naluwooza from Maklib attended LATINA Summer School (with  scholarships from Bergen UL) • August: Helge, Tord and Prof. Maria Musoke met at IFLA conference in Gothenburg and decide to run a LATINA course at Maklib in Uganda, with funding from Bergen University library and other donors

  13. Software • Use Open Source Software and widely used

  14. Production • LATINA work is increasingly web-based, cloud-based and multi-media oriented. • We access, produce, edit and curate resources through a variety of devices, such as portable computers, touch tablets and mobile phones. • The materials we develop before and during our courses are normally published on the open web with a CC license (allows free re-use for non-commercial purposes).

  15. Week 2. Structure • Each of the groups develops a particular type of product to be presented. • Each production is backed by a set of web resources available through a home page. • Each group selects its own theme or topic - which must be approved by the course leaders. • Each group will be supported by two instructors
