APPRENTICESHIPS • Find an employer who is willing to take you on • Apply to College Certificate, Diploma or • Pre-Apprenticeship Programs • Math and English are key subjects • Contact the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities (MTCU) • A full apprenticeship requires 2-5 years of training • https://www.ontario.ca/page/start-apprenticeship

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE UNIVERSITY • Smaller Class Sizes • Hands on learning & lectures • Focus on specific career paths • Foundation programs, Certificates (1yr) • Diplomas (2-3 years) • Degrees (4 years) • Larger Class Sizes • Lecture style learning • Focus on theory that applies to multiple careers • All Degrees (Bachelors, Masters) • 3-4 year programs

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • COLLEGE • Gr.12 English (C or U) • Program Specific Requirements • Average varies, but is generally based on required courses only • Portfolio/Interview UNIVERSITY • 6 Gr 12 U/M courses, including English (U) • Program Specific Requirements • Supplemental Information Form OSSD

Place in Toronto) • Wednesday October 23 5-9pm and Thursday October 24 9-2pm • LOCAL: • College Information Program Day @ Conestoga College, Doon Campus • Tuesday October 22, 2019 10:30 am – 1:00 or between 5:30-7pm • All 24 Ontario Colleges will be present • All Conestoga College Programs will have booths as well • Visit www.ontariocolleges.ca

What marks go to the Colleges? • Our first upload of grade 12 marks is November 22, Midterm Semester One Marks go • Our second upload of grade 12 marks is February 7, Final Semester One Marks go • Our third upload of grade 12 marks is April 24, Midterm Semester Two Marks go • All offers of admission are conditional – final upload of marks is in July, Final Semester Two Marks go

What marks go to the Universities? • Our first upload of grade 12 marks is February 13, Final Semester One Marks go • Our second upload of grade 12 marks is April 24, Midterm Semester Two Marks go • All offers of admission are conditional – final upload of marks is in July, Final Semester Two Marks go

UNIVERSITY • $150 will allow students to apply to 3 Universities • $50 for each additional choice • PIN # – will be given out at the end of October beginning of November from PHS Guidance • DEADLINE: JAN 15th 2020 • COLLEGE • $95 will allow students to apply to 5 Colleges with no more than 3 programs at any one college • OEN number – located on student’s timetable • Can apply end of October • DEADLINE: FEB 1st 2020

  22. Early October– the online application will be available • February 1, 2020 – application is due for equal consideration + first day colleges MAY release offers of admission • May 1, 2020 – Confirmation deadline • June 1, 2020 – earliest date you may be required to make a financial commitment

  23. January 15, 2020 – 101 application is due for equal consideration • February 4, 2020 – recommended last date to make final changes to your application • May 27, 2020– Notification of decision (all offers are conditional) • June 1, 2020 – earliest date you may be required to respond to an offer and give a financial commitment

  24. Applications are direct to each university. • Fees and due dates will vary • Program requirements will vary • OSSD is a standard requirement • Students give the PHS Guidance office each address of the out of province schools; we send transcripts. • Those planning on applying to American Colleges or Universities will need to write the SAT’s – search www.collegeboard.org
