Different Types of Ads • Display Ads • Gives information about the business, usually phone number, address, product information, slogan, etc. • Message • An ad that shows how proud the business is of the school • Ex: “Congratulations Class of 2012!” from a local coffee shop • Patron Ads • Ads that sponsor a specific club, sport, etc. • Some patron ads are included in school advertising packages • Page Sponsor (folio ads) • The name of the business on the page of the business’s choice
Boosting Ad Section Appeal • What are different ways to boost the ad section’s appeal? • Rename the ad section to the community section • Run a border of photos on the advertising pages • Include feature stories within the ad section • Attract attention with survey results and infographs • Run community news highlights or current events • Print the index throughout the ad section • Mix congratulatory ads with business ads • Use various spot colors to enhance the ad designs
