Challenges • In rural communities, many people believe women should vote after marriage—reason perhaps for the low number of female voters. • Gender bias and social stereotype • Psychological and traditional barriers • Male domination in decision making process • Migration in National Capital Region

  9. Strategies for Challenges • Women Enrollment: • Special attention is given by organizing the functions in the institutions meant for girls/women. For instance the state level function in 2012 was organized in DAV College for Women in Yamunanagar. • Director General, Women & Child Development Department, issued instructions to its machinery at the district level especially the Anganwari workers for maximizing the women enrollment. • MOU with Women University. • DEOs have also signed 796 MOUs with various Educational Institutions, NGOs, etc. • 63 Campus Ambassadors/Coordinators have been identified in schools and colleges.

Strategies for Challenges • Each one Reach one Campaign has been started by way of sending SMSs to already registered voters in order to take their help in approaching their near & dear ones for enrolment as voter. • Form 6 was supplied to the admission-seekers to Educational Institutions. The effort, though did not receive a huge response yet it made a good beginning. SANKALPA PATRA • Pre printed sankalpapatra for registration given to children along with form 6 • Collection of forms at institution nodal office DISTRICT LEVEL MEETING • DEO/ROs held meeting with Principals & also addressed students in colleges.

  12. State Icon Ms.Meghna Malik, the famous TV Actress ( ammaji of Na Ana is Desh lado ) has been appointed State-icon with the approval of the ECI .

  13. ‘iztkra= dsizgjh’ or ‘Sentinels of democracy’ A contingent of student volunteers, with a strip around their waist having ‘iztkra= ds izgjh’ or ‘Sentinels of democracy’ inscribed thereon participated in the March-past on the Independence Day parade.
