Description of Enigma The Mary Celeste was a 103 foot, 282 ton ship. The ship had no papers for the history or information of the ship. It also didn’t have any navigation or chronometer equipment.
Cause or Theory of Enigma? One theory is that it might have been attacked by pirates because of bloodied weapons on board. Another is the crew was swept overboard. One other is they were blown to pieces by alcoholic fumes. They also could have been attacked by a Kraken.
Who and When the Enigma was Discovered? How long ago? A man named Sir Arthur Conan Doyle discovered it floating in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, on December 4, 1872. That was over 140 years ago.
What Scientists Have Found It was found floating with no information, navigation, or history of the ship. It is in its ghostly episode; haunting.
Scientists Viewpoints Same? Different? Scientists agree and disagree. One theory is that they think they sailed to Africa and everyone was murdered, BUT why didn’t they take anything.
Controversies Most people think that they were attacked by pirates, BUT why did they take the ship’s information, navigation, and history. They also ask why didn’t the crew fight back and escape leaving their weapons.
Changing Over Time The enigma changed by believing it was cursed so bad things happened to it. One curse is that they named it “ Born Unlucky” which made it the jinxed ship.
Interesting Facts • The ship is not the enigma the passengers and crew are. • The ships mystery tarts when it was named “ Born Unlucky.” • They took navigation equipment and the ships information with them. • Its nickname is the “Jinx Ship.’’ • They could have committed suicide with the alcoholic fumes.
My Theory Since the crew went missing, I think that the ship crashed because there wasn’t anyone to sail it. So I think everyone jumped overboard. The crew took the ships papers and navigation equipment with them.
