  2. WHY TWITTER!? • I chose to create a PLN via twitter, because it was a quick, easy, and educational way to connect with other professionals • Over the semester, I have been able to explore many different articles, information, other professionals, and peers accounts to learn and discover areas I am interested in, or need guidance with

  3. Growth! Over the Semester, I have found myself reading and discovering more and more about what is happening on campus for education students. This has started a feeling of “connectedness” with the University of Alberta education community. I discovered how easy it is to remain informed and in touch with other students and teachers. This will definitely continue to grow in my career. I have followed more and more people/accounts of interest throughout the semester, and I have begun “re-tweeting” and “tweeting” more of my own ideas or ideas I agree with and want to divulge into further.

  4. #Edmonton Public Library I have always loved the Edmonton Public library, for both educational and personal use. They are a great organization to follow because they are constantly posting new sites, tools, or happenings at the library. For example, a recent “tweet” offered tech tips for using the library online! It is a great way to keep in contact with a vital resource for teachers, parents, and students. As well, I love that they keep us informed of what’s going on at the library to help motivate and engage students to read!

  5. #Discovery Education Discovery Education is another of My favorite accounts. It brings engaging and up to date information and discoveries to add excitement and interest into the classroom! This will be extremely useful in the classroom to bring in new resources and examples of current research, education and discoveries. For example, a recent post about a virtual weather channel event to engage students learning about weather!

  6. #ED Week Teacher Ed Week Teacher is a great resource for teachers, they post relevant ideas and resources On curriculum, classroom technology, and instruction. As a new teacher, I found this account Extremely useful when wondering about education “politics”, or ideas straight from other Teachers. It offers amazing articles and opinions, and can connect you with other teachers Right away. For example, and article about intrinsic awards in the classroom can give you lots to think about for developing your own professional identity.

  7. #Making Connections • I was able to use twitter to make connections with many resources and professional accounts. As I continue to grow my PLN I hope to connect with more teachers who can offer guidance and new resources. My Twitter account has grown over the semester, and I have begun to create my own library of resources and articles to help me on my career path.
