Types of Writing Review Word Description This writing tells a story, and so it does not follow a traditional essay format. Provides an overview that presents the main points and makes summarizing statements. Should not contain author opinion. Recognizing Opinion in Writing As long as a statement can be factually proven, it is likely to avoid opinon. Look for word choice (WC) that expresses opinion - typically with adjectives and adverbs.
