  2. APIS MELIFICA Burning, stinging pains; eyelids; throat; hemorrhoids, ovaries (right one),breasts,skin(urticaria, erysipelas, carbuncles). GREAT OEDEMA; general or local (face, ears, eyelids, especiallylower); throat (diphtheria); genitals (scrotum); skin (erysipelas &urticaria); everywhere general anasarca, abdomen. These oedemas areaccompanied with the characteristic pains, or no pain atall.

  3. Stupor, with sharp sudden, shrill cries in brain disease. Thirstlessness, especially in dropsies & during heatof intermittents. Suffocative; feels as if every breath would be hislast, especially in dropsical conditions or hot stage ofintermittents. Skin alternatively dry & perspiring.

  4. Modalities: < after sleep, on touch (very sensitive), from heat & warm room: > cold room, or air, coldapplications. Bad effects from suppressed or retrocedentexanthemata; measles, scarlatina, urticaria. Involuntarydiarrhoea, with sensation as if anus were wide open.

  5. CANTHARIS VESICATORIA Frequent urging to urinate, with straining &cutting,burningpains.Small quantity passed at a time, or bloodyurine. Excessive BURNING pains (eyes, mouth, throat, stomach, intestinal tract; all the mucoussurfaces & skin. Stringy, tenacious discharges from the mucusmembranes.

  6. Erysipelas, with blebs or large blisters filled with water & burning pain; useful for surface burns. Uncontrollable anguish, furious rage, frenzieddelirium; strong sexual desire, both sexes. Disgust foreverything; drink food, tobacco. Dysenteric stools, bloody, with tenesmus in rectum& bladder.

  7. Modalities < from touch, or approach, urinating, drinking cold water or coffee. > rubbing.

  8. CARBO VEGETABILIS IMPERFECT OXIDATION is the keynote of this remedy. The typical Carbo patient is sluggish, fat and lazy and has a tendency to chronicity in his complaints.Vital force nearly exhausted; complete collapse.Surface cold & blue. Haemorrhages with indescribable PALENESS of the surface ofthe body. Weak digestion. Excessive flatulence, pressing upward, stomach & abdomen.Eructations give temporary relief.

  9. Hunger for oxygen,desires fanning. Faints easily. Persons who have never fully recovered from the exhaustiveeffects of some previous illness or injury; Bad effects from loss of vital fluids; haemorrhagefrom any broken-down condition of mucous membrane. Looseness of teeth, easily bleeding gums.

  11. CHAMOMILLA MATRICARIA Especially adapted to children & nervous, hystericalwomen.Very irritable mood; snaps & snarls; will not speak or answercivilly;Mad. Exceedingly sensitive to pain, which makes her mad;numbness alternates with, or attends, the pains; sweats with thepains. Excessive uneasiness; anxiety; agonized, tossing about;with only be quieted by carrying the child about. One cheek red &hot & the other pale & cold.

  12. Dentition diarrhoea; green stools,foul odour like rotten eggs, much colicky pain, abdomen bloated. Cough dry < at night, WHEN ASLEEP, from tickling in throat pit; <cold weather & every winter.   16. COLOCYNTHIS Disinclined to talk, to see friends,impatient, easilyoffended, anger with indignation; colic or other complaints as aconsequence. Colic, terrible; they seek relief by bending double or pressingsomething hard against the abdomen. Dysentery like diarrhoea; renewed after least food ordrink, often with the characteristic colic pains.Frequent urging to urinate, scanty; urine sometimesthick,foetid,viscid,jelly-like.

  17. Crampy pain in sciatic nerve, from hip down to posteriorportion of thigh;> from hard pressure & from heat. Tendency to painful cramps, with all pains. Modalities: < evening, anger; after eating; > from coffee; BENDING DOUBLE & HARD PRESSURE.

  18. Complete relaxation & prostration of the whole muscularsystem,with almost or entire motor paralysis. Eyelidsdroop; muscles refuse to obey the will. Children:fear of falling,seize the nurse,grasp the crib, especially inintermittents. Great heaviness of theeyelids;cannot keep them open. General deep-seatedmuscular pain with prostration.

  20. < damp weather, fog, before a thunderstorm, emotion, or excitement, bad news, tobacco-smoking, when thinking of his ailments; at 10 a.m. > bending forward, by profuse urination, open air, continued motion, stimulants.

HYPERICUM It is the remedy for wounded or injured nerves; from simple punctures from nails, splinters, pins, rat bites, etc., to severe concussions of the spine & brain, & especially to parts rich in sentient nerves. Excessive painfulness is a guiding symptom to its use. Injured nerves from bites of animals. Tetanus. Spasms after every injury. Relieves pain after operations.

  22. Neuritis, tingling, burning and numbness. Has an important action on the rectum; haemorrhoids. Coccydynia. < in cold; dampness, in a fog; in close room; least exposure; touch. > bending head backward.

  23. IPECACUANA The chief action is on the ramifications of the pneumogastric nerve, producing spasmodic irritation in chest and stomach. Persistent nausea, that nothing relieves, in many complaints. Headache as if bruised, all through the bones of the head, & nausea. Amebic dysentery with tenesmus; while straining pain so great that it nauseates.

  24. Uterine haemorrhage, profuse, bright with nausea. Dyspnoea; constant constriction in chest. Couth incessant and violent, with every breath. Cough with nausea. Feeling of constriction; rattling cough. Haemorrhage from nose or lungs.

  25. LEDUM PALUSTRE Affects especially the rheumatic diathesis.Rheumatism begins in feet & travels upward. The swellings are pale, sometimes oedematous, & < at night, in the heat of the bed; uncovering or cold water relieves. Painful rheumatic gout. Complaints of people who are cold all the time; lack of animal heat; parts cold to touch, but they cannot stand warmth of bed.

  26. Punctured wounds by sharp-pointed instruments, rat bites, stings of insects, especially mosquitoes. Wounded parts are cold. Black eye.

  27. NATRUM SULFURICUM A liver sycotic remedy. The complaints are aggravated in wet environment (damp houses, basements, cellars). They are worse in rainy weather, water in any form. Feels every change from dry to wet. Always feels best in warm,dry air. Head symptoms from injuries to head. Chronic effects of blows,falls. Spinal meningitis. Diarrhoea,acute or chronic < in the morning, on beginning to move, with much flatulence & rumbling in abdomen, especially in ascending colon.

  28. Loose cough,with great pain in the chest; < in left lower chest. Photophobia. Tendency to warts. Fingers and toes affected. Modalities.< music (produces sadness); lying on left side; damp weather. > dry weather, pressure, changing position.

  29. OPIUM All complaints are characterized by sopor. They are painless, and are accompanied by heavy, stupid sleep, stertorous breath. Sweaty skin.Opium lessens volun movements, contracts pupils, depresses higher intellectual powers, lessself-control and power of concentration, judgement; stimulates theimagination, checks all secretions except that of the skin. Retained or involuntary urine, after fright. Loss of power or sensibility of bladder.

  30. Obstinate constipation; no desire to go to stool. Abdomen hard, bloated, tympanitic. Great drowsiness. Falls into a heavy stupid sleep.Breathing stops on going to sleep; must be shaken to start it again. Deep snoring, rattling, deep snoring, rattling, stertorous breathing. Modalities< heat, during and after sleep. > cold things,constant walking.

  31. PULSATILLA PRATENSIS Mild, gentle, yielding disposition; sad & despondent, weeps easily. Changeable remedy, pains travel from one joint to another; haemorrhages flow &stop & flow again, no two stools alike, no two chills alike. The patient seeks the open air; always feels better there, even though he is chilly. Mucous membranes are all affected. Discharges thick, bland, and yellowish–green.

  32. Aversion to fat food, warm food and warm food and drink. Thirstlesness, with nearly all complaints. Modalities:< in warm room, warm applications, abuse of iron, chilliness with the pains, > by cool open air, walking slowly around, cold food or drink, tying up tightly > the headache.

  33. RUTA GRAVEOLENS Acts upon the periosteum and cartilages, eyes and uterus. Lame sensation all over as after a fall; worse in limbs & joints. Lameness after sprains.Injuries. All parts of the body upon which he lies are painful, as if bruised. > motion < cold wet weather. Pain and stiffness in wrists and hands. Ganglia. Eye-strain from close study. The eyes feel weary & ache as if strained, or they burn like balls of fire.

  34. Prolapsus of the rectum.Frequent, unsuccessful urging to stool. Protrusion of rectum when stooping. Modalities< lying down, from cold, wet weather.> on motion.

  35. STAPHISAGRIA Mechanical injuries from sharp-cutting instruments;post-surgical operations; stinging, smarting pains, like the cutting of a knife. Great irritability or inability to express his anger. A constant feeling of being suppressed. Bad effects from sexual abuse; mind dwelling continually on sexual subjects.

  36. Craving for tobacco. Sensation as if the stomach was hanging down relaxed. Sinking sensation in the abdomen; feels as though it would drop, wants to support it with the hands. Colic > bending double. Nice skin remedy. It cures both dry & moist eruptions.
