Mathematics General 1 – What will I do in this course? • Syllabus – Online • The theory topics include: Algebra, Probability, Measurement, Finance and Data • You will also study applications by completing projects in the following topics: Back to front page
Mathematics General 1 – What jobs/careers will this help me do? • Helps to manage finances and interpret daily statistics and graphs. Aids with using maths in everyday life • Can assist with studying VET courses and some humanities, or working in these areas, e.g. as a chef, mechanic, any trade. • Can count towards a TAFE course after the HSC Back to front page
Mathematics General 1 – Should I do this course? • Contributes to your HSC, but NOT your ATAR • If you want maths for your everyday life • If you enjoy maths more when it is hands on, e.g. through games, projects and using technology Back to front page
Mathematics General 2 – How difficult is it? • Involves challenging problems, with long, worded situations. • Aimed at students from all classes. • Requires a good knowledge of year 10 maths • Some real world tasks and activities. Less than Mathematics General 1 Back to front page

Mathematics – How difficult is it? • An advanced mathematics course. • At Holroyd High School, usually the top 10-15 students study this course • Only for students in 10M1. Back to front page
Mathematics – What will I do in this subject? • Syllabus – Online2012 HSC Exam • Involves very little practical work • Advanced levels of algebra, geometry, probability, trigonometry and financial mathematics • This is a Calculus based course. Back to front page
